Nostell Priory

Begun in 1735 by amateur architect Colonel James Moyser with modifications by a young James Paine, this Palladian house was extended after 1765 by Robert Adam, creating one of his most unified classical designs.

It contains an internationally renowned Chippendale collection, which was, in part, designed for the rooms in which it is currently found. Chippendale furnished the house completely, providing everything from the magnificent desk in the library to the chopping block in the kitchen.
